August 2016: An estimated 40,000 homes and businesses were submerged when prolonged rain brought historic flooding to greater Baton Rouge. Trinity Lutheran Church in BR responded with the creation of Camp Restore Baton Rouge to accommodate and equip volunteers as they deploy into the community to assist in disaster relief.
January 2017: CAMP will be traveling to Baton Rouge to join other volunteers in debris removal, construction, and outreach opportunities.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh;
Rather, serve one another humbly in love.
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

restoring the spiritual & physical needs
As the automobile industry changed, Detroit was met with an economic downturn that brought the city to its knees. High unemployment and abandoned homes/neighborhoods resulted in a reduced tax base that drove the city to bankruptcy in 2013.
Pure grit, determination, and a love for the city and its people are the driving forces for bringing Detroit back. Recognizing their limitations, municipal leadership has partnered with businesses, churches, and non-profits in creating innovate plans for rebuilding and sustainability. The congregation of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in the heart of Detroit is embracing the rebirth of the city and the opportunity to be a witness for Christ by launching Camp Restore Detroit.....and rebuilding the surrounding community one life/house at a time.
Camp Restore Detroit will open on the grounds of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and School as a hub for volunteers committed to growing Detroit and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. The Chicago Area Mission Partnership will be sending a crew to help prepare the facility by building bunks, securing doors/windows, addressing plumbing/electrical needs, assembling a tool crib, and sharing our 10 years of experience as Camp Restore New Orleans volunteers.
The CAMP Leadership Team is humbled, honored, and excited to be a part of this launch and we ask that you include these efforts in your prayers. If you would like to be a part of this spring trip to Detroit, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Trip information will be posted to this site as it becomes available.
Spring 2017 Mission Trip: Detroit, Michigan
Detroit.....the birthplace of the automobile and automation that changed the world. The place immigrants came to work and plant roots that blossomed into beautiful communities. A city that is truly the definition of Midwestern "pull-on-your-boots-and-go" work ethic. And of course, there is the music of Motown.....
